Infinity Lessons
2016, single channel video with sound, 7’25”.
This video arose from a series of over one hundred short videos I made on my iPhone of my daughter, who asked me to video her doing ‘tricks’ or short actions. She was about six or seven years old at the time: I suspect it was a way of getting and holding my attention during the end stages of my PhD, but it soon became a reciprocal activity, a collaboration we both enjoyed. At some point I imagined a work where I would re-perform all the actions she performed for me– something of double portrait. ‘Infinity Lessons’ is the result/proposed beginning of this.
The sound track is my daughter attempting to read some of my early artist statements (now rather old and a little embarrassing).
